Till we see again..

Adieu Singapore. Till we see again …

Young and naive, a newly married me flew to Singapore. Little did I know this country would hold a deep etched place in my heart forever. 11 years and it seems as if just a day has passed and memories remain so fresh within.

The first time I saw a country so well kept and attractions that well meant it’s meaning. A city full of architectural wonders and multi cultural environments was a sight to me. The well lit streets of Little India and Chinatown during festive days are crowd pleasers with their striking sights and luscious food displays. Seeing the birds and animals not so in captive or enclosed within cages made me stare in awe. Years down and I still enjoy my every visit to the Jurong Bird Park and the zoo where I had many “first time experiences”. Vultures swooping down and perching on my hands to seeing penguins swim  into ice closures right before my eyes are memories engraved for life.

The Merlion mesmerises one and all. The titter tatter drops that splash when you move close are no less than the first drizzles of a heavy shower. A city that makes feel home when you choose to make it yours. The inner desire to play in snow was well taken care by snow city and the ice skating rink. I am no travel freak so move on & let’s talk food . Morning breakfast with street side waffles or the Mcspicy at lunch time need no say for any foodie(rather junkie). I look forward to days i drop my girl in school & decide to do me-time for breakfast. The hot coffee with hashbrowns and the Long John's sandwich derive sheer joy and a drool-worthy mention.

Singapore is a shopper's dream destination. If iconic hotspots like Louis Vuitton, Apple store, Marina Bay sands and Orchard are for the big-shots, Bugis and Chinatown satisfy the average shopper and are a bargain steal areas that complete the feel good mood. Second hand bookstores are a favourite for the nerdy heads and to me it was much needed therapy. Bras Bash does good for any kind of book in search ,if not the public libraries hold those rare books not found in any nook and corner. The journey i started is left long behind, memories-too many to hold . Some good, some bad and many many lessons. Moving on is not as simple as it sounds. At least for a place that has done you many good. I know it’s not the last. When again is a question that remains for the future.
